Battle of the Bars 2017 Results

24th Annual ~ Game Day SUNDAY, AUGUST 6th

The 24th Annual Schooner Wharf Battle of the Bars raised $19,202 for local charities Southernmost Boys and Girls Club and the Bahama Village Music Program. The overall total is now $338,954 raised by this high-spirited charity event.

Dan Dombroski, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club, said, "We're honored to be part of this year's Battle of the Bars. Simply put, if it wasnt for support of the Schooner Wharf, all the volunteers and team members, the Boys and Girls Club could not do what we do best--change the lives of children. The support of this event is overwhelming and to witness the sheer spirit of giving is humbling. Events like the Battle of the Bars are the catalysts of change in our community. So, thank you all for allowing us to continue to make a positive change in the lives of children in our community.

Katchen Duncan, Executive Director of the Bahama Village Music Program, added, "The Battle was so fun! Loved all the costumes and team enthusiasm! Thanks for supporting Bahama Village Music Program! This town has some amazing and generous people, and it was so great to spend the day with everyone!"

Twenty-five teams from Keys bars and restaurants were pumped up to win and waged a fierce competition. Excitement was high as the 7-person teams ran the obstacle course, poured and served a margarita, recycled bottles, rolled and tapped a keg, and drank beer.

Bourbon St. Pubs Bourbon Boozers took home the championship title for the second year in a row, along with a trophy, gift certificates and bragging rights, with a final round time of 2 minutes, 5 seconds. Team Sons of Hamarky from Hogs Breath captured second place, and third place went to Outback Steakhouses Boozin Onions.

Also for the third year in a row, The Deepest Pockets award (the team that contributes the most money) went to Salute! On the Beachs Beach Bums. Catered Affairs of Key West's "Wedding Warriors" was awarded second place, Danger Charters Manscapers took third place, and Dante's "Horny Devils" took fourth.

The coveted Most Outrageous Team Costume went to Sebago Watersports with their All You Need is Kiss (multiple costume changes) and second place went to Southernmost Beach Cafes SoMo Savages. Eleven Honorable Mentions for Costume were awarded to 801 Bourbons So is This a Gay Bar?, Catered Affairs of Key Wests The Wedding Warriors, Cork & Stogies Cork & Stogie, Cowboy Bills You Better Redneckognize, Danger Charters' "Manscapers", Dantes Horny Devils, Lucys Retired Surfers Bars Lucys Lushes, My New Joints Joint Squad, The Salty Anglers Smokin Mad Dashers, Schooner Wharf Bars Special Events, and Square Groupers Green Machine.

Everyone was extremely generous, all in the spirit of giving to two great causes, said Evalena Worthington, event organizer. The energy level and excitement to win the bragging rights were amazing. All the teams as well as the spectators were extremely giving, and the creative costumes made it an even more fun and festive day.
