THE NATHAN WHITT BAND

The Nathan Whitt Band is the hip jam band for the urban environment. Bred out of the classic singer/songwriter mold, Nathan Whitt combines his unique original material with the live performance of a soulful band that has a junkyard beat. Born in California and raised in Ohio, Nathan surrounds himself with an all-star band that includes session players and established pop/rock and r&b musicians from Columbus, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. Together, they create an innovative musical formula that is a cross between pop/rock artists such as John Mayer and Gavin DeGraw and soul/funk/jam acts like Robert Randolph & the Family Band and Sly & the Family Stone.

Just at the initial stages of supporting their latest release “Combustible”, the Nathan Whitt band has already secured radio and television airplay in markets from Ohio to New York City to Germany and showcased their act in major venues from Ohio to Nashville to Florida. Currently being sold and distributed by indie label Lick Records, “Combustible” is looking to follow-up on previous hit singles from Nathan Whitt that have earned spots on national Top 40 charts.

THE ROOT BAND

The band's music has a wide spectrum, from rock and roll and rhythm and blues, to pop rock and reggae. The band covers music as precisely as the record on songs like Stevie Rae Vaughn's, "Pride and Joy", and then completely comes full circle in Charlie Daniels, "Country Boy", with an unexpected rockin' groove. The girls, being the latest addition to the power trio rhythm section known as The Root Band, add covers like Fleetwood Mac's, "Rhiannon" to the mix, which expands the repertoire of what this band is capable of performing. JIMMY AND THE PARROTS.

One of the most requested Jimmy Buffett cover bands in the country, Jimmy and the Parrots perform not only all the great Buffett songs fans love, they also play new and classic rock ‘n roll, as well as outstanding original songs written by lead singer/guitarist Jimmy Maraventano.

Since 1998, Jimmy and the Parrots have been playing to delighted crowds, and for several years, they have been a featured band at the Meeting of the Minds Parrothead convention here.

Their cover songs also include favorites by the Beach Boys, Paul Simon, Jerry Jeff Walker, Harry Belafonte, and Bob Marley, among many others.

Joining Jimmy Maraventano in the band are his son, Jimmy Maraventano, Jr. (vocals, lead guitar), Hal B. Selzer (bass guitar), and Lance Hyland Stark (drums). The band truly appeals to all ages and all musical tastes and will have everyone leaning back and sipping a margarita!

HARPER

“Harper follows Miles Davis’ creed: the notes you leave out are just as important as the notes you leave in.” -- Australian Musician

English by birth, but raised in the beautiful coastal city of Perth, Western Australia. Harper is known for his huge soulful vocals, unique harmonica performances and his innovative original compositions. More recently he has included the intensely spiritual didgeridoo (Australian indigenous instrument) into his live performances.

Harper was awarded "Male Vocalist of the Year", and "Song of the Year" ("I Swear Im Innocent") by the 2004 Australian Blues Awards. Harper also received a TREV award for "Acoustic Artist of the Year" (Australian College Campuses). US Magazine "Guide to the Best of the Blues Harmonicas & Beyond" voted his “Way Down Deep Inside” CD, "Album of the Year" and he also received two harmonica awards, "The Sweet Harmonica Award" and "The Nasty Harmonica Award".

His rich soulful voice, virtuoso harmonica solos and didgeridoo rhythmic sounds, combine to create a truly Australian take on the roots music genre, layered with incredible songwriting. Lyrically, Harper takes us on an emotional journey, cleverly maneuvering and confronting us with his thoughts on the world in which we live.

SARASOTA SLIM

Florida R&B and blues-rock legend Sarasota Slim will be sangin’, slidin’ and generally wailin’ away at Schooner Wharf Bar on Friday and Saturday, February 2nd and 3rd.

Playing his own take on blues-rock, Slim’s influences were greats Elmore James, B.B. King and Otis Rush. He mixes Chicago style with Delta and Allman Brothers-style slide guitar.

Slim’s been called “an innovative guitar player”, and adds “I’ve never been a straight, retro-blues kind of guy.” He’s landed opening slots for such heavy-hitters as Johnny Winter and Etta James. Says the Gainesville Sun, “…his hot-blooded slide work can raise the hair on the back of your neck.”

CELTIC HEATHENS

Schooner Wharf celebrates St. Patty’s Day with Celtic Heathens... The Celtic Heathens are a four-piece acoustic music group who perform music drawn from the “Celtic” regions of the world. GOODMAN & BENTHIEN WITH CHRIS CLIFTON

Appearing at Schooner Wharf Bar Tuesday, May 15th at 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 pm is first-class songwriter, singer, and guitarist David Goodman accompanied by percussion virtuoso Carlos Benthien & the master of the stratocaster Chris Clifton. INJADE

Injade is a four-piece band fronted by Adrienne Zolondick on acoustic guitar, keyboards and vocals, and David Tortolano on electric acoustic guitar and vocals.

Take 2 parents and 10 kids, put them in a 40-foot bus, send them on the road for 4 years playing their music, and you get an amazing 12-member family bluegrass band. When asked what his style is, Cory replies “Anything from Cole Porter to Led Zeppelin -- music to make people smile.” His original songs are written with a wit and humor that all appreciate.

He played the club circuit around the Pacific Northwest for ten years, as well as touring in Europe, and has shared the stage with such names as Michael Martin Murphy and New Riders of the Purple Sage.

Robert has been a favorite local musician since 2004, and this will be the second show with his little brother at Schooner Wharf.

The talented Leanna Collins makes a long-awaited return performance with local Marty Stonely, as she treats old friends to a trip down memory lane with her old school Rock, jazzy Blues and originals.

Leanna is no stranger to Key West, as she arrived in the ‘80s for a decade and a half of incredible guitar playing and singing, recording three CDs here in Key West. Leanna has since been playing from the Keys to North Carolina to Michigan.

We’re thrilled to have her grace our stage and know you will be, too. Please come out to enjoy what appears to be her only local performance.

NO ORDINARY BAND

No Ordinary Band is what you’ll get when these guys get together -- what a mix! Local entertainers Gary Hempsey, Pete Jarvis, Will Hoppey, and friends perform classic acoustic Rock with a twist.

The festivities kick off at 7:00 p.m. with the Caribbean Junkanoos for the Conch Republic Independence Celebration Kick-Off Party at Schooner Wharf Bar. ROBERTO DeBOURG & HIRAM GARZARO

Roberto DeBourg and Hiram Garzaro of The Flats Band will make their Schooner Wharf debut appearance. DeBourg, from Venezuela, is a singer-songwriter and guitarist who began singing at an early age. His six-member band, #41, named for a Dave Matthews song, packed concert venues all across the country as one of the most popular groups in Venezuela.

Garzaro, also Venezuelan, is a drummer, percussionist and backing vocalist. At 16, Garzaro started studying drums with great Jazz drummer Frank Polo. The duo will play classic, contemporary and rock songs from Dave Matthews, The Beatles, Kings of Leon, David Gray, Bob Marley, and more all transferred into acoustic format.

Toko Irie’s blend of upbeat Island Reggae and Calypso generates an easy tropical feel. Renowned for his unique 3-stick method of playing the steel drums, his boundless charisma transports audiences to Caribbean balmy breezes and -- Ya Mon -- everyone has a fun time.

BEN PRESTAGE

Born the grandson of a Mississippi sharecropper, Ben Prestage grew up in the swamps of south central Florida and mixes Mississippi Country Blues with his own take on Florida Swamp Blues. Wailing with a frenzy and ferocity that could rival a full-blown ensemble, he delivers a passionate blend of the Blues reflective of his rural upbringing.

Labeled as “one of the three best unsigned performers in the world” at the 2006 International Blues Challenge, this musical multi-tasker plays a cigarbox guitar -- a stereo guitar and bass strings that can be played independently at the same time. Then Ben added four foot pedals that can be manipulated by the heels and toes of both feet to play a drum kit.

This muddy-water-meets-black-water stew has led him to perform from California to the Carolinas to the Florida Keys, and his own brand of Blues leaves bottles empty and dance floors full wherever his music takes him.

LARRY BAEDER BAND

Appearing at the Schooner Wharf, Friday and Saturday July 8th and 9th from 7 p.m. till midnight is the well known Larry Baeder Band. Larry has spent a lifetime in the music industry as a sought after guitarist, arranger, composer, producer and musical director for some of the most legendary artists of our times.

Larry was inducted into the royal family of the blues world sharing the stage with the legendary kings (and queens) of music. People like Muddy Waters, James Cotton, The Allman Brothers, Bonnie Raitt, John Lee Hooker, and Dan “Elwood Blues” Akroyd. Baeder became a member of the prestigious house band at the Apollo Theatre, where he played guitar for the legends of R & B and soul. Acts like The Coasters and The Shirelles among many. He toured with Bo Diddley, and Dennis Edwards, Eddie Kendrix, and David Ruffin of The Temptations.” Larry also has performed in Europe, the Middle East, South America and Africa.

Baeder combines blues, jazz, country, R & B, and funk with a Cuban twist, and sometimes Baeder will blend all these elements within a phrase. His songs and melodies tell the tales of the world and leave you gasping on every note.

HENRY TURNER, JR.

Henry Turner Jr., lead vocalist and guitarist for the band, is the driving force behind this band’s appeal. Henry’s influence on the band comes somewhat from his early musical influences. Blues and jazz greats like B.B. King, Bob Marley, and George Benson have allowed Henry to bring forth a unique perspective to the realm of reggae. The style of the music, as quoted by Henry, is “… an infused sound … also an infusion of R&B /Reggae with some jazz chording.” This unique style has allowed the band to go where other bands cannot. Jonathan “Boogie” Long, bassist and vocalist, the newest member of the band, is proficient with a number of instruments (piano, drums, trumpet, French horn, sax, flute, clarinet, and mandolin) and has taught lessons on them. Ronnie Houston, the senior member of the Flavor band, is a profound R&B drummer. With various influences, including artists such as James Brown and Buddy Rich. Ronnie has toured the United States and Europe since the early 1970s. Ronnie has added an element of stability to the Flavor roster since 1990. All together, this trio of rockers is sure to set the stage on fire.

Who is Charlie Vegas? The man himself calls his stuff “space age retro” Think early 50’s rock meets classic blues, only different. It’s swing, rockabilly, jump and some R&B all melded together Charlie style. Backed up by the hot New Blues Combo, Charlie Vegas’ cool sounds will blow you away. Some folks think of The King when he shows up in his funky black outfit. A lot of others say he’s a lot of Kings, from B. B. to Freddie.

Charlie and the New Blues Combo re-interpret big blues classics from giants like Muddy Waters and T-Bone Walker. His personal “Joisey’ style tosses in hints of old blue eyes, little sinister Sinatra-isms. Speaking of “Joisey” one panting fan swears when she watches Charlie, she thinks of The Boss. One night with Charlie may not be enough, but it’s a change to soak up some retro roadhouse cool, authentic down and dirty hip swingin’blues.

Copper Box, a fun and entertaining band in from Wisconsin, dances in the crossroads of zydeco, blues, jazz, and Tex-Mex, blending the accordion into a wide range of music. This four-piece band also features saxophones, guitars, flute, washboard, bass, ukelele, drums, and percussion.

No novelty act, they’ve shared the main stage with The Doobie Brothers, Little River Band, Buckwheat Zydeco, Little Feat, Little Big Town, Little Texas, Peter Frampton, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and more.

Dan Miraldi and his 3-piece band are in from Cleveland for one high energy show that mixes vintage rock with Americana and ‘60s pop.

His music reflects his early years that were influenced by Elvis, the Beatles and later Bob Dylan, and the Stones. Also a prolific songwriter, his “The Holy Roller Stone Revival” became a finalist for the best rock song in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition in 2010. Along with the four-piece Albino Winos, their songs and albums have received airplay and with the release of their latest album, a multi-city east coast tour.

The South of the Border Band will make Cinco de Mayo a hot, hot hot! night when they perform Mexican and mixed Latin grooves. Well-known Miami singer Dayami fronts the band with her blending of Afro-Cuban music with Caribbean rhythms and Spanish melodies. She has the energy and soul that add a special flavor to this tasty recipe!

El Maestro David Parker is on vibraphone (similar to a marimba), percussion and “coros”; veteran singer Jose Rodriguez (from Caribe band) is on flute and wind synthesizer and shares lead singing spotlights with Dayami; and Marty Stonely, on horns and “coros”, rounds out the band.

This earthy funk band is fronted by George Victory, ex-guitarist for Peter Tosh and the Fatback Band, on lead vocals. He’s known for his searing Caribbean Buddy Guy- inspired guitar solos. Harlem percussionist “Massai” Abdul Mateen plays djembe and hand drums; and veteran reedman Marty Stonely adds saxes and flutes to the mix.

Joining George on the vocals is twice voted Best Singer in Miami, Dayami. The night will feature urban hits and soul classics with “funkified reggae”.
