This Saturday, March 4th,
Immerse yourself in the spirit of Old Key West at the heart of the
Historic Seaport, where you stroll amongst the tall masts of the classic
Schooners gracing the docks.
The Schooner Wharf Bar hosts
the Sixth Annual Open Air Art and Music Affair from 10:00 am until 6:00
p.m. with the musical part of the event rocking you until Midnight. This
event has been reviewed as "Culture, color and cocktails in perfect
harmony", so join the artists and performers from William Street to
Elizabeth and enjoy the "diversity of the artists and attendees that
creates that �A Last Piece of Old Key West� feeling."

Stroll the lane while you
immerse yourself in unique Arts and Crafts. This one of a kind show
features award winning local artists as well as artists and crafters whose
work isn�t shown any where else. A plethora of hand crafted jewelry is
always a crowd pleaser. Blings to beads, and everything in between
including hand carved wampum, feather jewels, renaissance ornamentation,
hand made glass beads, crystals and sea glass creations tempts self
indulgence. |
Functional and funky are the key words this
year. Gale Upmal hand paints glass ware and beautiful tables, Glass
Dancer�s Peggy Taylor is back with her mosaic furniture and beadwork
decorations. Fine artist Susan Thomas features her realistic scenes of
shrimp boats and Keys natural beauty. Laura Black is back with her
interpretation of Key West in acrylics, the late George Jacobs remaining
plien air water colors will be also be available. �Gourmet� soaps by Daisy
Cakes, Gourd Art by Susann D�Antonio, Ann Schroeder�s feather mandalas,
the famous fish rubbings of Kim and Ian Workman, and the fabulous �Fat
Bottom Women� ceramic sculptures of Mary Crawley are just some of the
creative works to purchase at this years event.
The artistic demonstration is an important
part of The Open Air Art Affair; the line-up features internationally
renowned Jay Gogin, the original �Hairy Potter� who will be demonstrating
his remarkable potter skills along with his students from the Florida Keys
Community College. Massive quantities of clay will be turned into a
fabulous fountain (eventually to be displayed at Schooner Wharf) and
vessels for their annual Mud Pie Dinner. |
Kim and Ian Workman will
show how a fish becomes art, (check for time) Joyce Straiton creates glass
beads on site and Ryan Stimmers twist wire into your name or a lively
creature. Paul Shetrompf carves designs into blocks of acrylic practicing
the art of Intaglio in his booth. Kick start your creativity while
interacting with talented and friendly artists.

of $200 for the best depiction of the bar to a visual artist, last year�s
winner was Ray Rolston. A $100 People�s Choice award will also be granted,
votes may be cast at the command post. |

The musical venue starts off
at 10:00 a.m. with local entertainer & humorist Michael McCloud and
Friends. Michael insults everyone from�bikers, boozers and lovable losers�
to dignitaries and they all come back for more. Enjoy his generic
industrious folk, blues and jazz, combined with friends, Bubba �low notes�
and �Captain� Carl Peachy, you may too come down for a �weekend twenty
five years ago�. |
Taking the stage at 3:30
p.m. are the Trouble Twins. Together, like nobody else can, they provide a
magic combination of Soul Rock and �the real deal� Blues along with their
own originals, delivered with style and polished by years of experience. |

Marylou and the Untouchables � 9 Piece
Band!!! invoke through their electrifying stage performance. With their
hot blend of original music, blues, funk, and classics they have captured

driving vocals and the tight rhythm section and three piece horn ensemble
of The Untouchables you�ll know why. |

headliner Steve Basset and the Mystic Soul Bubbas will rock the house from
8:30 p.m till midnight. "Steve Bassett's musical style is a synthesis of
American root music, blues, R&B, gospel, and rock and roll," said the
legendary John Hammond, Sr. |
