New Year�s Eve at Schooner Wharf - �Rigging in the New Year� - 2011
 

Evalena Worthington, Schooner Wharf�s beloved pirate wench was lowered onto the deck of the Jolly II Rover at midnight, to the fanfare of cannon fire and the release of white doves. The pirate wench, Evalena Worthington on the yard arm of the Jolly II Rover, getting ready for the countdown to 2011.
We hoisted our glasses and lowered the wench at our annual original tradition of Lowering the Pirate Wench. It was a great deal of fun for the hundreds of celebrants at this year�s New Year�s Eve party.

Our resident chief pirate wench and co-owner ,Evalena Worthington, was lowered onto the deck of the Jolly II Rover at midnight, to the fanfare of cannon fire and the release of white doves.

Evalena, Paul and the crew of Schooner Wharf wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.

Start the New Year at �A Last Little Piece of Old Key West�

Join your friends and make new ones at the Schooner Wharf Bar New Year�s Eve Celebration, where the past meets the future and the present is a whole lot of fun.

Schooner Wharf Bar will present its original New Year�s Eve tradition, the �Lowering of the Pirate Wench� from the 75-foot high mast of Schooner Adirondack III docked in front of the popular waterfront watering hole. They will be lowering a pirate wench, Evalena Worthington, co-owner of Schooner Wharf, against large illuminated countdown numbers � from 10, 9, 8� until the stroke of midnight where �2011� will light up to launch the new year. All of this is against a backdrop of the ship�s crew dressed as pirates, the release of white balloons and cannon fire. Complimentary party favors, hats and horns add to the festive atmosphere.

The day�s fun starts early with live music guaranteed to take you dancing into the new year. Michael McCloud and Friends begin at noon, followed by The Doerfels, a family of incredibly talented young musicians. Then Cool Breeze, one of the hottest boogie bands around, will electrify the stage. Never a dull moment at this happening place, prior to the countdown a DJ will play festive holiday music to entertain the crowd, the party continues until 4 a.m.

So celebrate the New Year in island style at Schooner Wharf Bar, where locals feel at home and visitors feel local. Join everyone on the harbor walk for the best way to ring out the old, and ring in the new!
