A Day of Art, Music &
Festivities in the spirit of "Old Key West," is happening from 10:00 a.m.
till midnight at the 5th Annual Schooner Wharf Bar Open Air Art & Music
Affair on Saturday, March 5th, 2005.
This year's "Affair" features live music
from local and national acts (noon till midnight) and showcases the art
and crafts of the famous, the occasional infamous, and the newly
discovered artist (10:00 a.m. - sunset.)

Live
demonstrations of large scale pottery throwing on a wheel, glass bead
flame work, painting, crafts, and performance artists enliven the already
eclectic atmosphere. The show has expanded to include Elizabeth and
William Street Squares, as well as the harborwalk and the lazy way alley. |

Internationally renowned
potter Jay Gogin, the original "Hairy Potter," will be demonstrating his
remarkable pottery skills along with his students from the Florida Keys
Community College. Massive quantities of clay will be turned into a
fabulous fountain (eventually to be displayed at the Schooner Wharf) and
vessels for their annual Mud Pie Dinner. |
Kim and Ian
Workman will be showing the art of fish rubbings and explain the ancient
process known as Gyotaku to curious onlookers. |
Show favorites, Kate Peachy,
Dwight Kelb, Rick Burnett, Laura Black, and Captain Outrageous will
display their fine paintings and prints. Peggy Taylor has created new
mosaic work with her glass dancers. Anne Schroeder is new to the show this
year and offers unique feather mandalas, jewelry and paintings on
naturally shred feathers. Anne's work has been mentioned in the Crafts
Report Magazine. Semi precious stones, fine gold, Greek beach glass,
handmade beads, and other original trinkets make for fine hand made
jewelry offerings. |

The Schooner
Wharf Bar awards a cash prize of $200 for the best depiction of the bar to
a visual artist. A $100 People's Choice award will also be granted, votes
may be cast at the command post. |

Michael McCloud, Captain
Carl "Guitar" Peachy and Bubba Low Notes will start the musical adventure
off at noon. Enjoy the humor and original song writing of this home grown
favorite trio. |
South Florida's Moose and
the Bulletproof Blues Band take center stage from 4:30 till 8:00 p.m.
Layers of soulful vocals, R&B harmonica at its best and well placed
keyboards of all flavors produce a powerful show. Ellard-James (Moose) has
played with performers such as Lou Reed, Greg Allman, Stevie Ray Vaughn
and David Bowie to name a few. |

Virginia based
headliner Steve Basset and the Mystic Soul Bubbas will rock the house from
8:30 p.m till midnight. "Steve Bassett's musical style is a synthesis of
American root music, blues, R&B, gospel, and rock and roll," said the
legendary John Hammond, Sr. |

Basset will bring his
Hammond Organ to Key West for the event. He is quoted to be "One of the
blackest white R&B singers you will ever experience" by Cinaci from Blues
Access. He has toured with Delbert McClinton, was added to the John
Hammonds famous list of discovered talent and signed to Columbia Records
in 1980. The music portion of the event is co-produced by local promoter
Barbara Wright. |
