The energy of Key West�s "athletes" was high during The 22nd Annual Schooner Wharf Battle of the Bars on Sunday. An impressive $11,677 was raised for local charities Key West Rotary Children's Dental Fund and Florida Keys SPCA and the overall total is now $301,587 raised by this high-spirited charity event.

Tammy Fox of the SPCA, said, "Thank you to everyone that participated in this year's Battle. Proceeds raised from this event will go directly toward the care of the thousands of animals we serve each year. You are all heroes and partners in our lifesaving mission!"

And Rachel Oropeza, President of Key West Rotary, added, "The proceeds today will go to our Children's Dental Fund, which helps school-age children go to the dentist. So, thanks to you, a lot of kids will have bright smiles!"

Twenty-four teams from Keys bars and restaurants were pumped up to win and waged a fierce competition. Excitement was high as the 7-person teams ran the obstacle course, poured and served a margarita, recycled bottles, rolled and tapped a keg, and drank beer.

Salute's "Beach Bunnies" took home the championship title, along with a trophy and bragging rights. Team �Raw Bar Rowdies� from Half Shell captured second place, and third place went to the home team, Schooner Wharf's �Raging Waterspouts�.

The coveted Most Outrageous Team Costume award went to Sebago Watersports with their �Sebago Snorkel Kings� with an Elvis theme; second place went to Southernmost Beach Cafe�s �SoMo Minions". Third place went to Sloppy Joe's "Sloppy White & The 7 K.W. Dwarfs".

Honorable Mentions for Costume went to "Hogs of War" from Hog's Breath Saloon, Beer "Gamers" of Bare Assets, "Rumor Minions" from Rumor Lounge and "Turtles on the Half Shell" from Turtle Kraals.

The Deepest Pockets award went to Salute's "Beach Bunnies" and Danger Charters' "The Danger Zone" took home second place.

�It�s such a fun get-together. Everyone was extremely generous, all in the spirit of giving,� said Evalena Worthington, event organizer. �The energy level and excitement to win the bragging rights were outstanding. All the teams and spectators were extremely giving, and the creative costumes made it an even more fun and festive day.�

Schooner Wharf-Schooner Wharf took 3rd Place Overall.

Sebago Watersports' "Sebago Snorkel Kings" took home the coveted Most Outrageous Team Costume award.

Salute's "Beach Bunnies" won both 1st Place Overall and The Deepest Pockets award.

2nd Place Overall went to Half Shell Raw Bar.
