Rigging in
2012 with Schooner Wharf's unique New Year's Eve tradition of the
"Lowering of the Pirate Wench"
Schooner Wharf Bar Crew at their New Years Eve celebration
|
We hoisted our glasses and
lowered the wench at our annual original tradition of Lowering the
Pirate Wench. It was a great deal of fun for the hundreds of
celebrants at this years New Years Eve party.
Our resident chief pirate wench and co-owner, Evalena Worthington, was lowered onto the deck of the America 2.0 at midnight, to the fanfare of cannon fire and the release of white doves.
Evalena, Paul and the crew of Schooner
Wharf wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.
Schooner or later, we hope to see you
here! |

One of the doves didnt want to leave the festivities or our resident
chief pirate wench and co-owner Evalena Worthington, who had to give the
dove its own send off. |

Join your friends and make new ones at the Schooner Wharf Bar New
Years Eve Celebration, where the past meets the future and the

Schooner Wharf Bar will present its original New Years Eve tradition,
the Lowering of the Pirate Wench from the mast of tall ship America
2.0 docked in front of the popular waterfront watering hole. They will
be lowering a pirate wench, Evalena Worthington, co-owner of Schooner
Wharf, against large illuminated countdown numbers from 10, 9, 8
until the stroke of midnight where 2012 will light up to launch the
new year. All of this is against a backdrop of the ships crew dressed
as pirates, with the release of doves.
Complimentary party favors, hats and horns add to the festive
atmosphere. This bash was rated the 2nd most fun thing to do by AOL
after being at Times Square!
The
days fun starts early with live music guaranteed to take you dancing
into the new year. Michael McCloud and Friends begin at noon, followed
by The Doerfels, a family of very talented kids who will entertain you
with blue grass, rock n roll and other favorite classic tunes. Next
up from 10:00 pm til late is the bounding energy and funk of
Biscuit
Miller and the Mix. Bring your dancin shoes for a pipin hot
biscuit full of soulful blues stew. Miller has played with such
legends as Muddy Waters and Ike and Tina Turner. Never a dull moment
at this happening place, prior to the countdown a DJ will play festive
holiday music to entertain the crowd, the party continues until 4 a.m.
